Postdoctoral Researcher (m/f/d)
“Model experiments for crystal growth”
Within the framework of a highly regarded Starting Grant from the European Research Council (ERC) we are setting up a group "Model experiments" at the IKZ to work on a new generation of mul-tiphysical models for crystal growth processes (see News on our webpage). The project team will develop a dedicated experimental platform for the analysis of heat transfer, electromagnetism, melt and gas flows as well as crystal stresses in order to build and validate coupled numerical models. Here you will have the opportunity to work in high-impact research for future technologies.
Analyze selected crystal growth processes at IKZ (e.g., Czochralski growth of oxides above 1500 °C) with respect to macroscopic physical phenomena
Design physically similar crystal growth systems working at lower temperatures
Develop and build an experimental platform with extensive capabilities for in-situ observation
Select and integrate state-of-the-art measuring equipment for various fields (e.g., thermal imaging, laser distance sensors, ultrasonic velocimetry)
Guide PhD students in experimental studies and validation of theoretical models
PhD in physical or material sciences, engineering or related discipline with an excellent score
Solid knowledge in theory and practice of thermal engineering and materials processing
Practical experience in the design and development of scientific equipment
Good understanding of complex measurement and sensor systems
Outstanding capability of scientific work with a good publication record
What we offer:
The position is initially limited to 2 years. Payment is according to TVöD (Treaty for German public service). IKZ is an equal opportunity employer.
