The TU Dres­den is one of ele­ven Ger­man uni­ver­si­ties that were iden­ti­fied as an “excel­lence uni­ver­sity”. TUD has about 36.500 stu­dents and almost 5319 employees, 507 pro­fes­sors among them, and, thus, is the lar­gest uni­ver­sity in Sax­ony, today.

Having been com­mit­ted to sci­en­ces and the engi­nee­ring before the reuni­fi­ca­tion of Ger­many, TU Dres­den now is a multi-disci­pline uni­ver­sity, also offe­ring huma­nities and social sci­en­ces as well as medi­cine.

At TU Dres­den, Faculty of Mecha­ni­cal Sci­ence and Engi­nee­ring, Insti­tute of Manu­fac­tu­ring Sci­ence and Engi­nee­ring, the Chair of Forming and Machi­ning Pro­ces­ses offers a pro­ject posi­tion as

star­ting as soon as pos­si­ble. The posi­tion is initi­ally limi­ted until July 31, 2024. The period of employ­ment is gover­ned by § 2 (2) Fixed Term Rese­arch Con­tracts Act (Wis­sen­schafts­zeit­ver­trags­ge­setz – WissZeitVG). An exten­sion is desi­red, sub­ject to resour­ces being avail­able.

Working field:

Tech­ni­cal pro­ject manage­ment of this rese­arch pro­ject in coope­ra­tion with the par­ti­ci­pa­ting rese­arch part­ner. The over­all objec­tive is the deve­lop­ment of a tech­no­logy to auto­mate the cal­cu­la­tion of machi­ning pro­ces­ses by means of dis­crete simu­la­tion models. Expe­ri­men­tal inves­ti­ga­ti­ons and their plan­ning in coor­di­na­tion with the pro­ject part­ner are as much a part of your field of activity as the docu­men­ta­tion, publi­ca­ti­ons and pre­sen­ta­tion of the rese­arch results.

Requirements:

  • uni­ver­sity degree (diploma/mas­ter's degree) in the field of engi­nee­ring sci­en­ces, pre­fer­a­bly in pro­duc­tion engi­nee­ring or simu­la­tion and model­ling tech­ni­ques
  • a high degree of self-moti­va­tion; abi­lity and wil­ling­ness to fami­lia­rize oneself with new topics and methods
  • good pro­gramming skills in at least one high-level lan­guage
  • know­ledge of dis­crete model­ling and simu­la­tion tech­ni­ques is very advan­ta­ge­ous
  • very good writ­ten and spo­ken Ger­man or Eng­lish skills
  • fami­lia­rity with com­mon soft­ware and office tools.
