Research Assistant - 0.75 working time - salary grade E13 TV-L Berliner Hochschulen

Working field:

  • evaluation of geophysical, hydrological und hydrogeological information collected within the Spree catchment
  • conception of hydro(geo)logical measurements in the catchment area of the river Spree
  • installation of hydrological measuring devices (discharge weirs, climate stations, soil moisture sensors) and hydrogeological measuring devices (measurement of water level, temperature, conductivity)
  • derivation of infiltration dynamics into the aquifer with respect to land use, soil type, vegetation
  • interaction with regional stakeholders such as water authorities or water works
  • supervision of qualification work (BSc and MSc) in the context of the project objectives


  • successfully completed university degree (Master, Diplom or equivalent) in geosciences with a focus on hydrogeology
  • experience in conducting hydro(geo)logical and hydrogeophysical field experiments

experience and knowledge in the following areas is desired:
  • knowledge of geostatistical methods
  • knowledge of water movement in the unsaturated zone
  • experience in the use of scripting languages such as Python
