The majority of systems and services that are provided by computer science, electrical engineering and information technology finally are oriented on the needs of their human users. To build successfully build such systems and services it essential to investigate and understand users and their behavior when interacting with technology. From this, design principles for human-machine interfaces can be derived and requirements for the underlying technologies can be defined.
The Quality and Usability Lab is part of TU Berlin’s Faculty IV and deals with the design and evaluation of human-machine interaction, in which aspects of human perception, technical systems and the design of interaction are the subject of our research. We focus on self-determined work in an interdisciplinary and international team; for this we offer open and flexible working conditions that promote scientific and personal exchange and are a prerequisite for excellent results.
Design and development of a comprehensive data interface to the module and course catalog of the TU Berlin. The task of the interface is a secure, performant and content-related suitable provision of the data, so that text-based interactive dialog systems, so-called chatbots, can be implemented in the context of the project USOS (chatbot-based support of self-organization in studies). The technical implementation is based on REST, OAuth2 and the software moses co-developed at the TU Berlin. The range of tasks also includes the design and implementation of graphical user interfaces, e.g. the implementation of the integration of the chatbots into the software moses.
The concrete tasks include:
Conception of a suitable interface architecture in moses
Creation of an implementation plan using epics/user stories/tasks
Integration of an OAuth2 authentication in moses
Implementation or support of the implementation of the required functionalities in the software moses
Communication with project participants regarding technical requirements of the chatbot
Active participation in the conception, development and evaluation of the overall system
Publication and presentation of project and research results in scientific journals, at conferences and workshops, as well as in international standardization committees
Experienced members of our team support the self-motivated familiarization with the tasks.
Successfully completed university degree (master's, diploma or equivalent) in (technical) computer science, mathematics, business mathematics or electrical engineering (or similar technical background)
Ability to work independently in a team and a good self organization
Very good programming skills in Java EE and their routine use in the intelliJ development environment
Good experience with working under Linux and the web server wildfly
Experience in the development of large software project using git, gitlab and gitflow
Experience in implementation in moses software and knowledge of its data schema
terest in accompanying the go-live of the implemented interface
Language skills: German fluent in written and spoken, English communication skills.
Desire to work in an international and interdisciplinary environment
Desired previous experience (not required)
Experience in software project management especially the coordination and planning of an implementation using epics, user stories and tasks.
Experience in the development of dynamic websites with JSF, bootstrap and primefaces.
