Research assistant - salary grade E 13 TV-L Berliner Hochschulen
under the reserve that funds are granted; part-time employment may be possible
Successful candidate will conduct research and develop advanced deep learning based algorithms for satellite image search/retrieval from large-scale data archives and semantic scene understanding. This will entail the development of novel deep learning models that can address the problems on incomplete, noisy and imbalanced training sets for image search, retrieval and classification.
Furthermore, the candidate is expected to publish/present the achieved research results and to mentor students at the BSc. and MSc. levels.
Successfully completed university degree (Master, Diplom or equivalent) in computer science, engineering, or mathematics.
Research experience with deep learning and explainable AI.
Experience in training deep neural networks and are familiar with various network architectures (ConvNets, LSTMs, ResNets, Transformers etc.).
Very good programming skills in Python, NumPy / SciPy, PyTorch / TensorFlow are essential.
Excellent English oral and written communication skills; good command of German is required; willingness to extend the German language skills.
