The Process Dynamics and Operations Group is looking for a new colleague for participation in an exciting new research project on development and testing of a new process for CO2-absorption using rotating packed beds (RPB). The project is carried out in cooperation with industrial partners, testing the process on-site in industrial environments. A mobile mini-plant is to be planned, constructed, and integrated into an existing industrial scale process. Using long-term experimental campaigns, the dynamic operation behavior and CO2 separation efficiency of RPB are to be evaluated. Using experimental results, suitable model structures for RPB are to be developed.
Specific tasks within the project are:
Design, sizing, and construction of a mobile mini-plant for CO2-absorption using RPB and programming of process control systems
Integration of the mini-plant into an existing industrial scale process at the site of a German industrial partner
Long-term operation campaign at the site of the industrial partner
Development and improvement of suitable process models for describing the dynamic process behavior of RPB
Test of hybrid processes combining RPB and conventional packed columns for CO2-absorption
Development of strategies for optimal process operation
The department is based in chemical engineering, but candidates from other engineering disciplines and backgrounds are always welcome. Regarding the described position, we are interested in colleagues with the following qualifications:
Successfully completed university degree (Master, Diplom or equivalent) in a suitable discipline (Process Engineering, Chemical Engineering or similar)
Excellent knowledge in chemical engineering, particularly on thermal separation processes and fluid dynamics
Required are experiences in design and operation of experimental test stands or mini-plants
Ideally you provide knowledge on process control systems and process automatization
Knowledge on process modeling of chemical engineering systems is welcome
We are a very international team. Hence, language skills in English are always of help and we expect you to be willing to learn German
