Compound Semiconductor Technology (CST) is performing fundamental and application-oriented research on the deposition and characterization of compound semiconductors, organic semiconductor materials as well as on electronic and optoelectronic devices. Major research goals are energy-efficient components for power electronics, display technology, solid-state lighting, optoelectronics and organic / hybrid photovoltaics.
Research and Teaching Assistant (PhD Candidate)
We are currently looking to expand our team for the development, technology and characterization of electronic materials and devices based on 2D (i.e. MoS2) and group III nitride (i.e. GaN) semiconductors. The task is deeply rooted in fundamental research of novel material and device structures, but also strives for viable technological solutions in future applications.

a university Master or equivalent in electrical engineering (micro- or nano-electronics), solid-state physics, or material science (electronic materials)
solid knowledge of semiconductor physics, electronic devices and/or semiconductor technology
hands-on experience in working in a semiconductor, microsystems, chemical laboratory or cleanroom.
very good spoken and written English and/or German skills
are self-motivated and curious, willing to independently carry out your own research
enjoy working hands-on in the lab
have good organizational and social skills and are open to actively interact with other researchers
What we offer:
The position is two years fixed-term employment and is to be filled as soon as possible. The contract can be extended up to a maximum of six years. This is a full-time position.
The successful candidate has the opportunity to pursue a doctoral degree.
The salary is based on the German public service salary scale (TV-L).
