RWTH Aachen - Compound Semiconductor Technology

Compound Semiconductor Technology (CST) is performing fundamental and application-oriented research on the deposition and characterization of compound semiconductors, organic semiconductor materials as well as on electronic and optoelectronic devices. Major research goals are energy-efficient components for power electronics, display technology, solid-state lighting, optoelectronics and organic / hybrid photovoltaics.

Research and Teaching Assistant (PhD Candidate)

Work­ing field:

We are cur­r­ently loo­king to expand our team for the deve­lop­ment, tech­no­logy and cha­rac­te­ri­za­tion of elec­tro­nic mate­ri­als and devices based on 2D (i.e. MoS2) and group III nitride (i.e. GaN) semi­con­duc­tors. The task is deeply roo­ted in fun­da­men­tal rese­arch of novel mate­rial and device struc­tures, but also stri­ves for via­ble tech­no­lo­gi­cal solu­ti­ons in future app­li­ca­ti­ons.

You have
  • a uni­ver­sity Mas­ter or equi­va­lent in elec­tri­cal engi­nee­ring (micro- or nano-elec­tro­nics), solid-state phy­sics, or mate­rial sci­ence (elec­tro­nic mate­ri­als)
  • solid know­ledge of semi­con­duc­tor phy­sics, elec­tro­nic devices and/or semi­con­duc­tor tech­no­logy
  • hands-on expe­ri­ence in working in a semi­con­duc­tor, micro­sys­tems, che­mi­cal labo­ra­tory or clean­room.
  • very good spo­ken and writ­ten Eng­lish and/or Ger­man skills

  • are self-moti­va­ted and curious, wil­ling to inde­pendently carry out your own rese­arch
  • enjoy working hands-on in the lab
  • have good orga­ni­za­tio­nal and social skills and are open to actively inter­act with other rese­ar­chers

What we of­fer:

The posi­tion is two years fixed-term employ­ment and is to be fil­led as soon as pos­si­ble. The con­tract can be exten­ded up to a maxi­mum of six years. This is a full-time posi­tion.

The suc­cess­ful can­di­date has the oppor­tu­nity to pur­sue a doc­to­ral degree.

The salary is based on the Ger­man public ser­vice salary scale (TV-L).
