The Institute for Power Electronics and Electrical Drives (ISEA) at RWTH Aachen University has been active for more than 50 years in the fields of power electronics, power electronic components, electrical drives as well as electrochemical energy conversion and storage system technology. With more than 100 employees, ISEA is one of Germany's largest university institutions with outstanding experience in the field of major electric drive components for electromobility. Numerous activities in the fields of traction and automotive technology, energy supply, industrial technology and household technology document the broad spectrum of research at ISEA. In addition to public funded research projects, the focus of research activities is on cooperation with national and international industrial partners.
The vacancy is part of the post graduate program "Integrated Energy Supply Modules for Roadbound E-Mobility" (http://www.mobilem.rwth-aachen.de) and includes a three-year PhD fellowship. Within the framework of the post graduate program, High-temperature converter concepts for integrated generators will be investigated. This includes:
Concept and topology evaluation for switched reluctance generator based range extender units
Application of wide-bandgap semiconductor devices
Implementation and analysis of prototypes
Holder of a degree (master or comparable) in mechanical or electrical engineering with above average scores
Interest in innovative and interdisciplinary topics
High level of responsibility, initiative and team spirit
What we offer:
The position is for a fixed term of 2 years and is to be filled by October 1, 2019. Another contract for at least one year is following. This is a full-time position.
The successful candidate has the opportunity to pursue a doctoral degree.
The salary corresponds to level EG 13 TV-L.
