The Institute for Power Electronics and Electrical Drives (ISEA) at RWTH Aachen University has been active for more than 50 years in the fields of power electronics, power electronic components, electrical drives as well as electrochemical energy conversion and storage system technology. With more than 100 employees, ISEA is one of Germany's largest university institutions with outstanding experience in the field of major electric drive components for electromobility. Numerous activities in the fields of traction and automotive technology, energy supply, industrial technology and household technology document the broad spectrum of research at ISEA. In addition to public funded research projects, the focus of research activities is on cooperation with national and international industrial partners. 

Research Assistant/Associate

Work­ing field:

The vacancy is part of the post gradu­ate pro­gram "Integ­rated Energy Sup­ply Mod­ules for Road­bound E-Mobil­ity" (http://www.mobilem.rwth-aachen.de) and includes a three-year PhD fel­low­ship. Within the frame­work of the post gradu­ate pro­gram, High-tem­per­at­ure con­verter con­cepts for integ­rated gen­er­at­ors will be invest­ig­ated. This includes:

  • Concept and topo­logy eval­u­ation for switched reluct­ance gen­er­ator based range extender units
  • Applic­a­tion of wide-bandgap semi­con­ductor devices
  • Imple­ment­a­tion and ana­lysis of pro­to­types

Require­ments:

  • Holder of a degree (mas­ter or com­par­able) in mech­an­ical or elec­trical engin­eer­ing with above aver­age scores
  • Interest in innov­at­ive and inter­dis­cip­lin­ary top­ics
  • High level of respons­ib­il­ity, ini­ti­at­ive and team spirit

What we of­fer:

The pos­i­tion is for a fixed term of 2 years and is to be filled by Octo­ber 1, 2019. Another con­tract for at least one year is fol­low­ing. This is a full-time pos­i­tion.

The suc­cess­ful can­did­ate has the oppor­tun­ity to pur­sue a doc­toral degree.

The salary cor­res­ponds to level EG 13 TV-L.
