The Institute for Fluid Power Drives and Controls (IFAS) of RWTH Aachen University is one of the largest institutions of its kind involved in the research of all aspects of fluid power. Apart from mechanical engineering, the research comprises other topics, such as information technology, servo-control engineering, electrical engineering, tribology and chemistry.
A motivated team of aspiring young scientists takes on the challenges presented by this diversified field of study. The intensive national and international contacts established between the institute and the manufacturers / users of fluid power components and systems, as well as other research facilities, ensure that its activities always comply with upcoming demands.
Your assignment consists of self-responsible, target-oriented project realization of publicly and industrially funded research projects in the field of fluid power components and systems. This includes planning, coordination, execution and presentation of project results along with your (industrial) partners. Furthermore you engage in the development and acquisition of new research and industrial projects as well as the buildup and support of contacts to industrial companies and research facilities. You carry out industrial assignments in the fluid power sector and are included into teaching.
Excellent master’s degree (or comparable) in mechanical engineering, industrial engineering or computational engineering
Analytical skills, quick perception and interest in academic projects
Well organized, target-oriented and responsible work approach
Team player and efficient communication
Confident and professional appearance
Fluent in English. German language knowledge or the willingness to develop this is mandatory.
Interest in experimental work and basic experience with simulation tools (e.g., ANSYS, ABAQUS, Matlab, …) are advantageous.
What we offer:
The position is 1,5 years and is to be filled as soon as possible. A contract extension for 3.5 further years with the aim of a doctoral dissertation is intended. This is a full-time position.
The successful candidate has the opportunity to pursue a doctoral degree.
The salary corresponds to level EG 13 TV-L.
