The Institute of Radiation Physics conducts research for states of matter under extreme conditions and in very small dimensions.
As part of the Institute, the Helmholtz International Beamline for Extreme Fields (HIBEF) invites applications as Laser engineer (f/m/d).
The position will be available from 1 July 2022. The employment contract is limited to two years.
Laser engineer (f/m/d)
The successful candidate (f/m/d) will be involved in the installation and operation of the 300 TW Ti:Sapphire and DIPOLE 100X laser systems. This includes:
Installation and securing the operation of the lasers, beam transport, opto-mechanics and electro-optic components
Laser installation and commissioning
Realization of controls and interfacing activities
Coordination and communication with vendors and other external partners
Do laboratory preparation
Development of diagnostic procedures for the detection and correction of errors
Implementation of the routine maintenance
Operations for XFEL-user experiments with highest reliability
University degree (Master of Science) in optical or laser Physics, Physics, Engineering or related field studies
Experience of laser optical design and construction, laser pulse diagnostics
Good communication skills and the ability to work in a collaborative team
Knowledge of the regulations on occupational safety, fire protection, radiation protection and laser protection
Very good english skills, german skills desirable
